会社や学校などで自己紹介をする機会もいっぱいあるんじゃないでしょうか。「会社の上司が外国人になった」「海外で働くことになった」　「新しい英語の授業で先生が外国人だ」そんな時、とっさに英語で自己紹介するのって意外と難しいですよね。

そこで、今回は講師のMollyが英語で自己紹介の例文をズッバっと教えちゃいます！

Introducing yourself to new people at a new job or school can be daunting! However, there are several things that you can do to make the experience easier.

If you are making a short speech to introduce yourself to a group of people in a business setting, it is always a good idea to start off by giving your name and designation.

“Hi, my name is ____________, and I am a __________ at ________.”

Now it is time to give your audience a few more details about who you are as a person. It is usually best to begin with where you are from!

“I was born in _________, but I grew up in _________.”
“I am a native of ___________.”
“I am from ___________, but I moved to _________ __ years ago.”

For a workplace introduction, you can add some information about your qualifications as well.

“I have recently graduated from _______________, where I received a_________ in __________.”
“I have a degree in _________ from ________________.”
“I have completed my _________ in ___________ from ________________.”
“I have been _________ for ___ years/months.”

For a school setting, you can add some information about your hobbies or your family.

“I have _____ siblings.”
“There are _____ members of my family.”
“I love to _________.”
“My favorite hobby is __________.”

Then, if you want you can include some details about why you are glad to be working at this new job in particular or for school, something that you are interested in studying. It is often best to mention something that you will be doing as part of your job or study.

“I have always been interested in ________ and am looking forward to____________.”
“I have always enjoyed _______ and look forward to _______________.”

After that, it is nice to let the audience know that you are glad to be meeting them! Depending on who you are talking to, you can add different details.

“It’s nice to meet you!”
“I’m looking forward to working with you.”
“I’m happy to be part of the ________ team.”
“I’m excited to be part of the team.”
“It’s an honor to be working with you.”

So, if I were to introduce myself, I might say….

“Hi, my name is Molly Kraus, and I am a language instructor at i-osmosis. I am from the USA, but I moved to India 2 years ago. I have a BFA in Theatre for Performance from Emerson College and am TESOL certified. I have been teaching English as a second language for 3 years. I have always been interested in online learning and am looking forward to gaining more experience in this field. I’m happy to be part of the i-osmosis team.”
